Our BusinessShibuya Station HIKARIE Deck

Subject Shibuya Station HIKARIE Deck
Ordered by Tokyu Corporation
Project Duration Jan-2010 to Apr-2012

This project is for a new 55-meter-long bridge spanning Meiji-dori Avenue, connecting Shibuya Station and Shibuya HIKARIE commercial building. The bridge is the first large-scale, public facility in the planned multi-year redevelopment of Shibuya and replaces an existing bridge that had been in use for over 50 years.

The structural form of the bridge, which consists of a box girder above the walkway as the main structure and a suspended floor, has achieved an unprecedentedly light design. This, combined with the delicately designed curtain walls and the color scheme based on white, create a cool and nearly transparent "space" for passageway. We made every effort so that this bridge will become a standard of quality in public space design for the future of Shibuya over the next 100 years.
