The largest and most innovative three-tiered urban school lunch center in Japan
Making full use of the know-how accumulated through our extensive experience in designing and supervising school lunch centers, we have carried out basic conceptualization, basic and detail design, and construction supervision for the Fuchu Municipal School Lunch Center.
Fuchu City, with a population of approximately 260,000, is a representative suburban satellite city in the Tama region of Tokyo. This facility is the largest school lunch center in Japan (capable of providing a total of 22,000 meals/day to all municipal elementary and junior high schools in Fuchu City [22 elementary schools and 11 junior high schools]).
The center is a pioneer of the comprehensive "urban school lunch center" concept, with a three-tiered structure - due to the limited site conditions in an urban area - a compact design, maximum efficiency in work flow for cooking, a food education function that allows public access and tasting, and energy-saving and environmental education functions such as a cogeneration system.
