Corporate history

The founding of Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd. goes back to the years immediately after the World War Ⅱ. The origin of the company can be traced back to the “Tuesday Club Advisory Office” (named on July 11. 1949), organized by the Shiraishi brothers, both highly educated in western civil engineering technologies, and Fukujiro Hirayama (1888-1962) the founding president of Pacific Consultants and the 44th chairman of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers, to regularly meet and discuss the Japan’s post-war reconstruction.

On September 4, 1951, based on conviction that the introduction of a western style institution for consulting engineer was essential, Pacific Consultants Inc. was established through equal investments from Muneki Shiraishi, Antonin Raymond and E. Floor, and was registered in the United States.

On February 4, 1954, after three years in operation, the Japanese-American joint venture was dissolved and, at the same time, Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd. (PCKK), a new company with Japanese capital and Japanese employees was established. As the Japanese economy boomed, the company grew steadily.

At the turn of the 21st Century, on February 9, 2000, the Pacific Consultants International Group (PCIG) was established, aiming to develop our unique corporate culture with greater synergy and become a global super-consultant group.

On September 4, 2001, Pacific Consultants reached the milestone of its 50th anniversary. The company’s more than half a century of history also directly tells the story of construction consulting in Japan as a whole.
